I'm walking down the hallway and I see another student throwing a temper tantrum on the floor. Two teachers are already there trying to calm him down. Should I mind my own business?

Yes! I might be concerned/curious about why he's acting out, but if I were him I probably wouldn't want other students watching me while I was upset.

This kid in my class is whispering in the middle of quiet time. He's not whispering to me, but I can hear him. Should I mind my business?

Yes! If he's talking, the teacher will probably hear him and deal with it. If I say something to him, it'll just add more noise.

My teacher is talking with another teacher by the door and I think I heard them say my friend's name. Should I mind my own business?

Yes! How would I feel if my teachers were talking about me and my classmate tried to eavesdrop on their conversation.

The teacher is showing us a power point and the boy next to me has fallen asleep. Should I mind my business?

Yes! The teacher can wake him up, and it really doesn't affect me whether or not he's asleep.

One of my classmates is having a meltdown in the classroom and the teacher has just cleared the room. If I peek through the window, I can still see what's happening. Should I mind my business instead?

Yes! If a student is having a meltdown, they deserve privacy while the adults are assisting them.

No! I can easily help her out by giving it back to her.

No! She said something mean to me, I can let an adult know.

My teacher is talking to my classmate about an incident that happened on the bus. My classmate gets frustrated and starts yelling and swearing back at the teacher. Should I mind my business?

Yes! The adults know how to deal with students who talk back. Minding my own business is the most helpful thing I can do!

200

The kid sitting in front of me on the bus is telling everyone that he has a weapon in his backpack. Should I mind my business?

No! Any and all threats of violence should be taken seriously. I should tell an adult what I heard.

I notice one of my classmates gets extra time on his tests. It doesn't seem fair since the rest of us only have 30 minutes to finish. Should I mind my business?

Yes! Some students receive accommodations like extra test time.

300

It's time to put away our laptops. One of my classmates is still typing on his, even though the teacher already said to put them away. Should I mind my own business?

Yes! The teacher can remind him it's time to put his computer away. It isn't worth starting an argument over something that has nothing to do with me.

300

My classmate got into a fight with another kid at recess. I saw what happened at the end. The teacher asked him to explain what happened. Should I mind my own business?

Yes!(for now) I may have seen part of what happened, and I can tell her what I saw later, but right now, she's only talking to him.

300

I'm walking to class in the morning and a 2nd grader I don't know has just tripped and spilled everything in his pencil box all over the floor. Should I mind my own business?

No! Even if I don't know the other kid, I can still be kind and help them out.

300

One of my classmates showed up today with all of his hair cut off. I think he looks really weird now. Should I mind my business?

This girl in my class has been up sharpening her pencil for five minutes. Should I mind my business?

Yes!

I just saw a kid throw another kid off the merry go round. The teacher didn't see it and now she's asking about what happened. Should I mind my own business?

No! Not only did the teacher not see it, but she's asking for information. Telling her is the responsible thing to do.

400

One of classmates is playing with a fidget during a lesson. Should I mind my own business?

Yes! There are tons of reasons for why she might have a fidget out, but it's important to remember that none of those reasons have anything to do with me.

At lunch, my friend tells me that another kid was mean to him, and he's going to get revenge and hurt him back. Should I mind my business?

I overheard someone saying my classmate is weird behind his back. I know my he'll get really upset if I tell him. Should I mind my business?

Yes! (sort of) While it's mean to talk trash about people when they aren't around. I probably shouldn't instigate by telling my friend what they said. I also shouldn't confront the person being mean. If I absolutely have to tell someone, I can find an adult.

500

My classmate just got back to room after getting called to the office. The teacher is giving a lesson. Should I mind my business?

Yes! It's not okay for that student to ignore the teacher's instructions like that, but the most helpful thing I can do is make sure I'm doing my work.

500

My friend is arguing with another student on playground. They're starting to shout and cuss at each other and a teacher is walking over. Should I mind my business?

Yes, if the teacher asks me what happened, I can tell her what I saw, but I definitely shouldn't get in the middle of an argument that has nothing to do with me.
