The risk management and hazing policy

Hazing is defined as any action or situation that recklessly or intentionally endangers mental or physical health or any action taken or situation created which produces mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule. Such as activities including road trips, required wearing of apparel which is conspicuous and not normally in good taste, engaging in public stunts and late work sessions which interfere with scholastic activities

The types of membership

Collegiate: A regularly matriculated woman student at an institution where a chapter of this Fraternity is chartered, who has been enrolled in or has completed one or more courses in music(inclusive of cisgender and transgender women; and non-binary, gender nonconforming individuals who are committed to the advancement of women in music). 

Alumnae: Women who were initiated at the collegiate level (inclusive of cisgender and transgender women, non-binary and gender non-conforming individuals) 

Patroness: for women who support the arts in the community and have been invited by a collegiate or alumnae chapter to join SAI (inclusive of cisgender and transgender women; and non-binary, gender nonconforming individuals who are committed to the advancement of women in music). 

Distinguished: the four types are Member Laureate, Honorary Member, National Arts Associate and Friend of the Arts

The Sigma Alpha Iota Alumnae Association. 

All Alumnae members of SAI in good standing are eligible to join upon payment of SAI Alumnae Association dues. Privileges include receiving PANPIPES and Tempo!; ability to apply for professional development grants; and eligibility to affiliate with a local alumnae chapter.

The Symphony

To study and practive the goodness of life, the beauty of art, the meaning of music, to sing the song of sincerty and universal peace. To speakthe words that build, that bless and comfort. To play the harpstrings of loving kindness, tolerance, appreciation and genuine gratitude. To strive for the joy of simplicity, for the noble, to be faithful over a few things. To listen, to e still and know the harmony from within. To falter never in seeking loving serice, wisdom and understanding. In a word, to be loyal to Sigma Alpha Iota and her teachings, to find joy, hope, inspiration, to remember that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above” and “whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not unto men.” And again, to practice. This is to be our symphony.
