Paper Formatting Basics
The font you need to use for MLA format
What is Times New Roman?
Numbering your pages in MLA format should be formatted like this

Format a citation based on the following information:
Author = Jane Austen
Title = Pride and Prejudice
What is: Austen, Jane. Pride and Prejudice.
(NOTE: Most citations like this would have a publisher and publication date)
Information you need to put before the title of your paper
What is your name, your teacher's name, the course name, and the date (day first, month second)?
These are used when referring to smaller works in your paper
What are quotation marks/quotes?
You should do this to identify shorter works (poems, article, etc.) in your works cited

Correct this citation:
I was walking along the street she said when I saw a cat and a dog chasing each other Smith 24
What is, "I was walking along the street," she said, "when I saw a cat and dog chasing each other" (Smith 24).
Format a citation based on the following:

Title = The Great Gatsby
Publisher = Charles Scribner's Sons
Publication date = 1925
What is: Fitzgerald, F. Scott. The Great Gatsby. Charles Scribner's Sons, 1925.
