What are the AFNC Problem Solving Approaches? 

(CCISE)

o Cooperate: task is important. Relationship is important. Report and trust need to be built. Information flows valued. Power “with”. “let’s work together and come up with a n even better solution”

o Comply (almost like accommodating under the Kilman model): Task isn’t important to me but the relationship is. Trust between parties and or desire to build it. “Yes absolutely, let’s do it your way”

o Insist: very important to me. Have to know how your opponent perceives this power. Trust doesn’t exist/is not needed/not valued. “Take t or leave it” or “today, do it my way!”

o Settle: task is somewhat important; preserve the relationship but don’t need to burn all of my chips to make it better; power evenly divided; “let’s split the difference and call it a day”

o Evade: task isn’t important to me. Or we can delay for more info; don’t need to build trust; don’t need more info; “Not now can you come back later?”
