How do you use line spacing?
To use line spacing to go to the paragraph group in the Home tab and click on the Paragraph dialog box setting.
What do the before and after spacing allow you to do?
The Before option allows you to customize the spacing before the active paragraph, where as After applies to the spacing after the active paragraph.
How do you use the paragraph dialog box?
Using the Paragraph dialog box allows you to apply the majority of the commands available in the Paragraph group but provides you with a few hidden gems, as well.
What 3 things can the command Increase Indent and Decrease Indent do?
You can format the alignment of a single character, word, sentence, or paragraph to place content on the page at specific locations.
What is Line spacing?
the amount of white space between two lines of text, compared to paragraph spacing, which is the amount of white space between two paragraphs.
How do you apply Line Spacing?
You can apply Line Spacing by opening the Paragraph Settings dialog box of the Paragraph group.
What are the two features you can use to dress up your paragraphs?
Shading and borders
How do you modify the Alignment?
Another way to modify the alignment of paragraphs is by using the text alignment commands—that is, Left, Center, Right, and Justify.
What two groups are you able to find Increase Indent and Decrease Indent?
you can find both the Increase Indent and Decrease Indent Command in the Home (Paragraph group) and Layout (Paragraph group) tab
What is Borders.
A border provides a way to bring attention to your paragraph by applying a black line by default around the background of your paragraph.
How do you access Boarder and Shading?
select the Borders command in the Paragraph group, and then select Borders and Shading.
Why would shading and borders be necessary?
You can use shading and borders because they create more depth to your paragraph.
How are the Left and Right alignments used?
When you apply each of these alignment options, the content aligns to the corresponding edge of the page margin.
What does the command First Line do?
Manages the indent level from the left side of your document for the first line of a paragraph.
What is Shading.
This provides a way to apply color around the background of your paragraph.
How do you determine what you want the line spacing to be in a document?
You can determine what you want the Line Spacing to be basest on the type of document you are writing.
Where is the Reveal formatting located?
The Reveal Formatting Command is in the Paragraph Group.
How do I specify the amount of indentation for a paragraph?
You can specify the amount of indentation you need by doing what makes you paragraph looks the way you like it but One-half inch is the typical measurement for indenting a paragraph.
What does the command Hanging do?
Applies the indent to all lines of the paragraph except the first line. When you apply the hanging indent, you’ll notice all the paragraph content indenting while the first line remains aligned to the left margin.
What is the Centered ailment command.
This alignment option centers the content with respect to the left and right page margins.
How do you determine the amount paragraph spacing to apply in a document?
You can determine the amount of paragraph spacing you want in the document by knowing what type of document you are trying to create for example if your writing a story not much spacing but some and if you writing an essay you might not want much spacing at all.
What is difficult about not using this command (Reveal Formatting)?
If you don’t use the Reveal Formatting command, It makes it difficult to observe the other commands.
How can you determine difference between the Centered and Justified options?
Centered is equally between both the left and right margins and Justified is the same but is spaces out the words differently.
Which key on the keyboard works like an indent?
The Tab key.
What is the Justified alignment command?
This option also aligns your paragraph equally between the left and right margins but spaces out the words on each line so that both the left and right edges of the paragraph are in a straight line.
