What is Carotid Artery?
A large vein carrying de-oxygenated blood from the lower part of the body into the heart.
What is Inferior Vena Cava?
A condition in which the heart beats with an irregular or abnormal rhythm, because the electrical system is not functioning correctly.
What is Arrythmia?
The muscular tissue of the heart.
What is Myocardium?
The vein carrying oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium of the heart.
What is Pulmonary Vein?
The minimum arterial pressure during relaxation and dilation of the ventricles of the heart when the ventricles fill with blood.
What is Diastolic Blood Pressure?
The artery carrying the blood from the right ventricle of the heart to the lungs for oxygenation.
What is Pulmonary Artery?
An excessive localized enlargement of an artery caused by the weakening of the artery wall.
What is Aneurysm?
The thin, smooth membrane that lines the inside of the chambers of the heart and forms the surface of the valves .
What is Endocardium?
The act of listening to sounds from the heart, lungs, or other organs, typically with a stethoscope, as a part of a medical diagnosis.
What is Auscultation?
One of the 4 heart valves, the first one that the blood encounters as it enters the heart. Also known as the right atrioventricular valve.
What is Tricuspid Valve?
A large vein carrying de-oxygenated blood from the upper part of the body into the heart.
What is Superior Vena Cava?
A partition separating two chambers of the heart that contains the bundle branches.
What is the Septum?
The valve between the left atrium and the left ventricle of the heart, consisting of two tapered cusps, also known as the mitral valve.
What is Bicuspid Valve?
Transmits electrical impulses from the AV node to the ventricles of the heart.
What is Bundle of His?
An instrument for measuring blood pressure, enabling the determination of systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
What is Sphygmomanometer?
A small body of specialized muscle tissue in the wall of the right atrium of the heart that acts as a pacemaker by producing a contractile signal at regular intervals.
What is Sinoatrial Node (SA)?
A blockage of blood flow to the heart muscle. Sometimes it is accompanied by chest pain or left arm pain.
What is Myocardial Infarction (MI)?
One of the major elements in the cardiac conduction system, this is the electrical relay station between the upper and lower chambers of the heart. Electrical signals must pass from the atria through this to reach the ventricles.
What is the Atrioventricular Node (AV)?
The membrane enclosing the heart, consisting of an outer fibrous layer and inner double layer of serous (fluid) membrane.
What is Pericardium?
One of the specialized cardiac muscle fibers that rapidly transmit impulses from the AV node to the ventricles.
