Why would someone ask for interest?
Let's say you ask to borrow $100 from someone, but they ask that you give them back $105 when you can pay them back. Why ask for the extra $5?
The $5 is for doing you a favor.
You may have paid back the $100, but they willingly loaned you the money. Interest is the cost for borrowing money
