What do you do when you want to talk in class?
By raising you hand quietly until you are picked.
What do you do when you first come in every day?
1. Get materials from your bag (chromebook, notebook, pen/pencil etc...)
2. Put your bag in the front of the class.
3. Begin the bellringer if there is one.
4. Remain in your seat unless given permission to move around.
What happens if I lose my ID?
You have to pay $6.00 for a replacement lanyard and ID.
I'm thirsty. What can I have to drink in your class?
Water and only water. Nothing else.
What is the noise level in the hallway?
It should be Zero. You are not in the hallway to talk, you are there to move to your next class.
What does work time sound like?
If talking is allowed, then it should be library level. If it is not, then work time is quiet.
I just got a minor...are you going to call my mom?
Yes. I make parent contact after every single minor referral. Behave yourself and I won't have to call your parents.
How should I wear my ID?
Your ID should be worn around your neck and be visible at all times. It should not be hanging from your hip or tucked into your pocket.
Can I play games on my Chromebook if I am done with all of my work?
No. You will follow the list of tasks for the day located on google classroom and on the board. If you finish your tasks for the day, you must ask permission to play games.
How do I walk in the hallway?
Single file, feet and hands to yourself, and to the right side of the hallway.
When is it ok to get out of your desk?
After you raise your hand and I have given you permission to do so.
When is it time to pack up to leave?
When Mr. Hayes says it is time, not before.
What happens if I come to school wearing the wrong thing?
Either an administrator or your first hour teacher will send you to call home and you will receive a dress code minor.
What should I do before I leave class?
1. Complete your exit ticket if there is one
2. Make sure your desk is in its spot and that all trash around you is picked up
3. Listen for any last minute directions
4. Check the board to see if you have any homework before you are dismissed.
Someone just pushed me or hit me in the hallway, can I hit them back?
No. Do not retaliate unless you want to get in trouble also. Tell Mr. Hayes or another teacher and we will deal with it.
When can we eat in class?
Eating is not allowed, unless it is food I give you and you have my permission.
When can I sharpen my pencil?
During worktime or at the beginning of class. Not during teaching or lesson time.
I don't want to mess up my new shoes. Can I wear crocs/sandals at school if I keep them in my backpack?
No. School policy dictates that crocs and sandals are not appropriate school footwear and should not be in your bag or on your feet at anytime during the school day.
When is it okay to ask to go to the bathroom?
Can I go to the bathroom during transition?
Yes, if you get to class on time with your folder ready and I say its okay.
How can you respect others?
By listening to them, taking turns sharing, using nice words, and safe bodies.
How do we exit the classroom at the end of class?
Calmly, while we walk out the door and move to the right side of the hall in the direction of our next class.
What can I wear if I get cold?
You can wear sweaters and jackets of any color or design as long as they don't have a hood and open up fully in the front, but any pull over type sweater can only be red, navy blue, or white with no hood or big words. Hoodies are never allowed.
Is it okay for me to keep my phone tucked into my pocket or pants if I promise to keep it off?
No. Cellphones should be off and stored in your backpack at all times.
My teacher is not at their door or the door is closed, what should I do?
Find a place against the wall and get as close to the wall as possible to avoid blocking the hallway and wait for your teacher to arrive quietly.
