If you need something, you should walk up to Mrs. Atkinson's desk

False

You should always raise your hand and Mrs. Atkinson will come to you or call you up to her desk.

100

The best way to get Mrs. Atkinson's attention is...

Raise your hand silently.

Do not say Mrs. Atkinson's name 100 times, follow her around the room, or come to her desk while she is helping someone else.

100

The websites that you should be on during Lab...

MyOn or No Red Ink (or any other websites you have been given instructions/permission to be on)

If you are caught on other sites, you lose your lab time and make it up during lunch detention.

100

Should I stand in the middle of the hallway and talk to my friends while waiting to come into Mrs. Atkinson's classroom?

No

When we are waiting to come into Mrs. Atkinson's room, we stand against the wall quietly and wait to be called in.  Do not ever just walk into the classroom.

100

Can I sharpen my pencil during class?

Yes.

There are manual pencil sharpeners by the student center (in a blue bucket). I ask that you do not get up and sharpen your pencil while I'm teaching or giving instructions.

200

Mrs. Atkinson loves to be called "Miss."

False

Miss is any unmarried girl in the classroom. Mrs. Atkinson likes to be called by her whole name and she will call you by your whole name instead of "Student."

200

Where do we turn in completed work?

The colored trays

There is a tray for 4A, 6A, and 6B. All completed work goes into the tray, unless it is test, then you turn it into Mrs. Atkinson.

200

What should we at the end of every lab period?

Fill out the intervention log in the intervention folder.

Your folders will hang in the pockets on the wall. These folders never leave my classroom. You will fill out the date/time and what you worked on during lab.

200

If Mrs. Atkinson is standing at the door talking to another adult or student should I go stand by her to ask her a question?

No.

Raise your hand and I will help you as soon as I am free. The only reason you ever get out of your chair and come to the door is if someone is bleeding, about to puke, or the room is on fire.

200

Mrs. Atkinson loves when students drum on the desks with their pencils?

NO!

This is my biggest pet peeve.
My brain doesn't function with the drumming and tapping the background. I understand you may need to move or fidget, but it must be silent so you do not disturb others.

300

If you need to go to the bathroom, you should raise your hand with your fingers crossed and I will tell you "yes" or "no"

True.

Do not ever leave the classroom without permission.

A good time to go to the bathroom is during Lab or passing period.

300

Does the bell dismiss you?

No!. We do NOT leave the classroom when the bell rings. We wait to be dismissed by Mrs. Atkinson and the room must be clean and silent before we go.

300

Is talking ever allowed during lab time

No talking is not allowed unless you are working with Mrs. Atkinson.

When you are working on a computer or at a station there is no reason to be talking.

300

If I am absent where do I find the work that I missed?  (this is the same place I would find graded papers as well)

White Crates.

Every student has a file folder with your name on it in the white crate for your class. If you are absent this is where you will find your assignments. I will also put all graded papers in this crates and if you want them you can stop and grab them.

300

Can I turn in my work late?

Yes.

Mrs. Atkinson will except late homework and late classwork, but you will be deducted points for every day it is late.

400

What you should do if you don't have a pencil?

Look in the pencil cup, raise your hand and ask Mrs. Atkinson, or ask a friend

Return all pencils that you borrow. Some pencils will be available in the cups, but you are expected to have a pencil every day.

400

Examples of things that you should not be doing during lab time

Talking, getting on other web sites, writing/drawing, sleeping

Lab time is working time!

400

Should I turn in my homework every week?

Yes!

Your homework in this class is very easy. There is no reason not to complete it and turn it in! (It is also 5% of your grade and you will fail if you get 0s for homework)

400

What will happen if I don't follow the rules?

Yellow Card, DPS, lunch detention, phone call home, after school detention.

If you get lunch detention, you will sit in Mrs. Atkinson's classroom and copy out of a dictionary, and not get to go to recess.

If you are breaking rules in my classroom you are stealing time from me and other students. That is simply unacceptable. You are old enough to know how to behave in a classroom.

500

When Mrs. Atkinson rings the bell, you should be silent.

True

We can decide on a different call back later, but for now, this is the sign for you to be silent so I can give directions.

500

How do we treat each other in this classroom?

With Grace and Kindness!

I understand you may not all be friends, but that stops at my classroom door. Inside this classroom we are a community of learners. We will support each other and be kind to one another.

500

If you need Mrs. Atkinson's help during lab time, what should you do?

Raise your hand silently and wait to be called on.

500

Should I talk if my hand isn't raised?

No.

Your hand being raised is the sign that you have a question, comment, or concern.

500

What happens if I behave really well in Mrs. Atkinson's classroom?

Rewards!

I will give out candy and little prizes randomly for good behavior. I will also pass out tickets to students that I see doing their job. Every Friday I will draw for a  bag of chips and a drink.
