What do you do if you have to sharpen you pencil during a lesson?
Use one of your 4 other pencils and sharpen it at the end of the day. Use a neighbor's pencil if necessary.
Are you ever allowed to use your phone during the school day?
No! You will be asked to put it away or I, Mrs. Taylor, may hold onto it until the end of the day.
Does Mrs. Taylor accept late work?
Sure! But if you waste class time, you'll have to do the work during YOUR time (recess or specials).

If it is not water, you are welcome to consume it during lunch or after school.

If you have an EXCUSED absence, yes. If you were present, do the work I give you, when I give it to you :)

We come to school to LEARN so no. You may do a fast finisher.
Can you bring toys or fidgets to school?
No, you may keep those at home. I can give you a fidget if you need one.
Do I have to do test corrections after I get my test score back?
YES! If you scored below a 75% on an assessment, you will be given a retake. Test corrections will help you receive partial credit on your test as well. Instead of a 0, you get 1/2.

I want to hoard the 20 pencils in my desk that Mrs. Taylor just put out for the class to use. Should I do that?
Obviously, no. You can have your 5. Leave the rest for the class to share if they need it. Mrs. Taylor will take the pencil sharpener out in the mornings before attendance.
Where can you wear sunglasses, hats, jackets, and other cold weather clothes?
OUTSIDE! Not in the classroom. You will be asked to take it off during class time.
Why do we have homework in 5th grade? Give 2 reasons.

You will be asked to take a break. You will have a consequence. You will owe time and you may receive a call home. Your teacher is not made of pencil money!
What are three things that you must bring to school every day?
Any of these 3, but ALL EVERY DAY:
My backpack, my water bottle, pencils, my completed homework, closed toe shoes, and any papers that I need to return.
Can I complete my DP (Daily Practice) during class time?
Yes! You can complete your DP as a Fast Finisher choice and after finishing Unfinished Work during Independent Practice.

Use kind and necessary words. Ask an adult for help if needed. Use to cool down chair and take a break/walk away from the situation. Keep hands to self.
When you have conflict with a peer or they are making poor choices, what should I do FIRST?
FIRST, I will try to solve it MYSELF by talking to them or walk away. If I have tried to solve it myself, THEN I will ask my teacher for help.
