What is the setting?
The sequence of events in a story.
What is plot?
The character is struggling with a problem in their own head.
What is internal conflict / character vs. self?
The reader knows the thoughts and feelings of one character, as told by an outside narrator.

Specific words chosen to hint to the reader what will happen later in the text.

The character struggles with a group, community, or society over rules, laws, or values.
What is character vs. society?
Cheyenne studied for hours the night before her big test. Imagine her surprise when she walked into class the next day and the teacher said, "I have a surprise for you. Today's test is cancelled!" She was so relieved that she couldn't contain the giggle that bubbled from deep in her chest.
