You can reach me via Canvas inbox/messages OR email... which do I respond faster to?

Canvas (because I get notifications on my phone)

100

True or False: Ms. Hake rewards students who point out her mistakes

True (just be nice about it!)

100

What is the team name for these teachers and their students: Hake, Flint, Spain, Whitey

SILVER CYCLONES BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY (the best team on campus)

100

It is school policy to power off or put your phone on silent and in your backpack as soon as you enter campus. What could happen if staff sees your phone (or even just your airpods/earphones)?

- you have to bring phone

If Ms. Hake HAD to pick only one genre to listen to for the rest of her life, she'd probably pick...

country!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEEYEE

Between assignment (coursework) grades and test/quiz (assessments) grades, one is weighted the heaviest (affects your overall grade in the class the most) if you get even just 1 really good or a really bad score. Which is it?

Assessments: 80% of your grade

Coursework: 20%

Example: Imagine you have 3 grades in the gradebook: an A+ on 2 different bellwork assignments and a F on a test. Your overall grade would most likely be a D+, or maybe a C.

What is the difference between helping someone/working together and cheating?

Helping someone means you support them in learning or doing something on their own. You might explain a concept/steps, give hints, or show an example.

Cheating is when you give someone the answers, do the work for them, or let them copy yours. That means they’re not learning—and it's unfair to others who are trying honestly.

POV: You're sitting at your desk and you have to fart. Holding it in is not an option and you know you can't get away with it without making a scene. What's your next move?

Step outside NONCHALANTLY!!

Life hack: You are not allowed to get out of your seat without permission, except to blow your nose or sharpen your pencil. I allow students to blow their nose outside if they're embarrassed of doing it inside, so if you really have to fart, grab a tissue and step outside. Come back in and throw away the tissue like you blew your nose and boom: you have successfully farted nonchalantly.

200

I always emphasize "3 before me". What does that mean?

Ask people around you first if you have a question that doesn't HAVE to be answered by me specifically (things other students may know the answer too, such as things I have already told the class. Example: When is this assignment due? Or, where do we turn this in?

300

What are 2 things outside of school that Ms. Hake enjoys?

Many options

300

What are 2 ways you can prove to me that your parents read the syllabus for your S.K.Y buck?

1) print from the email link Ms. Hake sent, have them read and sign, bring back to Ms. Hake

2) have them read it from the email link and sign any piece of paper to bring back to me instead

300

What is our school's tardy policy?

3 tardies = lunch detention + call home. More tardies after that can result in after-school detentions and student/parent/teacher meetings

300

Keep your hands/body to yourself!!! This applies to: (name as many things as possible, I listed 4)

- supplies around the class that we're not currently using

- Ms. Hake's stuff/decorations

- other people

- other students' things, ESPECIALLY CHROMEBOOKS

300

I have my own S.K.Y. bucks store in the back cabinet that you can spend ONLY the S.K.Y bucks THAT I GAVE YOU. Name as many things you can spend it on as possible. You can use the menu on the cabinet door if needed.

I'm not typing all of that :)

400

Ms. Hake is making a stop before coming to school in the morning... where is she most definitely going?

starbucks 😁

400

I am not going to hold you responsible for getting home to sign a syllabus... but your parents still need to read it, so what is the perk of you proving your parents read it before August 8th?

a S.K.Y. buck! (maybe 2, depending on if...)

400

True or False: ALL assignments (not tests) can be resubmitted (re-turned in)as many times as needed until you get 100%, EVEN IF IT IS LATE

True!

- caveat: late work is no longer allowed once it has been a week from the day we took the unit test on what the assignment was helping you practice (everything we learned in the whole unit)

400

Where can you grab our work for the day, turn in work (unless it's supposed to be turned in to Canvas), and grab scratch paper, tissues, or hand sanitizer if needed?

The works table by my desk.

400

What 3 things need to be accomplished by EVERYONE before ANYONE can leave?

- all supplies nicely returned

- desks organized like they were when you arrived

- floor as clean as you arrived

HELP EACHOTHER OUT WITH THIS- return peoples things or remind them of these 3 things before the rings so you can leave on time! *you may not pack up until I give permission!!*

500

How much does Ms. Hake care about you?

A LOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Each and every one of you deserve the world and your best interest is my priority!!

500

What are the 4 supplies you are required to bring to class every day?

Clue #1: a backpack is not one

Clue #2: 2 of the supplies will be provided by the school on Monday and come hand-in-hand

- 1/2 inch binder (bigger is fine, you'll just have extra space)

- pencil

- Chromebook (CB)

- CB Charger

500

To pass my class, why is it SO IMPORTANT that you check your grades often and fix them AS SOON AS POSSIBLE instead of waiting??

- Math builds on itself. If you failed an assignment, you did not get the necessary practice you needed to succeed on the following assignments

- You risk running out of time

- Playing catch up is more stressful on you

500

5 rules for borrowing supplies from calculator holder in back corner (you can use the rules sheet next to the supplies if needed)

- grab you number only

- only take what you need

- return what you borrow nicely before you leave

- tell Ms. Hake immediately if you notice your supply is damaged or broken

- handle the materials with care

500

Order these:

- go to your assigned seat

- ask to spend your S.K.Y. bucks (if you want)

- do your best to finish bellwork before timer ends

- line up against the wall outside

- enter the class when Ms. Hake says

- put needed supplies on your assigned desk

- look at the board to see what supplies you need and what today's bellwork is
