Yes.  If you copy down ideas word-for-word, you have to do two things: use "quotation marks" and show who the author is. Also, DON'T USE WIKIPEDIA!

If a teacher sees that you copied someone else's work, what are some of the consequences?

If the teacher has told you what plagiarism is and you copied half or most of your work, then I will return your work to you and you have to redo it for half credit. In other words, instead of earning an A or a B, you will earn a 50% (F). Plus, I will call your parents, and we may meet with the counselor or the principal.
