No, ask first. Pretend there is an invisible fence around it.
Where do cell phones belong? And what happens if Ms. Shelton sees it?
Stay in my locker all day long. Ms. Shelton will take it.
Where do paper assignments go vs. Chromebook assignments go?
Paper assignments go in the turn-in bin for the correct class period. Digital assignments such as essays, presentations, etc. go in Google Classroom.
How should your literacy notebook be placed in the black crate?
The spine should face up so everyone's notebook can fit.
When is an appropriate time to sharpen a pencil?
Before class or during independent work time.
Where should you be and what should you have with you when the bell rings?
I should be in my assigned seat with my materials listed on the “Get Ready” Slide.
How many passes do you have each day, and when can you use the restroom during Ms. Shelton’s class?
3 passes per day. Restroom breaks can be taken during independent work time, not during instruction.
You are absent from school. Who is responsible for finding out what work you missed and making it up?
The student. Check Google Classroom or ParentSquare for upcoming due dates, and talk to Ms. Shelton ahead of time if you know you’ll be absent.
Before leaving the classroom, what should happen to your literacy materials?
They should be placed neatly on the shelf.
What does it mean when I ask you to set your Chromebook to 0°, 45°, or 90°?
0°= Chromebook is closed.
45° = Chromebook is partially open, but you cannot see the screen.
90° = Chromebook is fully open and ready to use.
During independent work time, what are three things you should be doing?
I should be in my assigned seat, keeping my voice down, and working on the assigned task.
When are you considered tardy to class?
If you are not in your assigned seat with your materials when the bell rings.
What is the late work policy for both formative and summative work?
I have one day after the original due date with a 10% deduction. Late work must also be turned in by the Hex deadline.
You take something from the supply closet or borrow something from Ms. Shelton. What are you responsible for doing when you’re finished? What happens if you don’t put my supplies back?
Put the supplies back where they belong, or you might lose the privilege of using any materials. Clean up after yourself!
Ms. Shelton says it is time to transition to independent/partner work. You immediately get up, talk to your friends, and take your time getting to your new spot. What should you do instead?
Listen to the directions, move quickly and quietly, and be ready to start working when the transition is over.
The bell rings. You quickly throw your workbook on the shelf, leave papers on your desk, Ms. Shelton’s materials are on the floor, and rush out the door. What should you do instead?
Put my materials away neatly, clean up my area, return materials to Ms. Shelton, and make sure everything is ready before leaving.
You are walking to the hallway with your friends. You start running, bump into others, and grab your friend's backpack as a joke. What did you do wrong?
Walk instead of running, keep my hands to myself, and keep my body in my own personal space.
Your Essay (summative work) was due Monday. You turned it in on Tuesday. You aren’t satisfied with your grade and want to resubmit it. What do you need to know about both situations?
The late assignment receives a 10% deduction because it was one day late. If you want to resubmit, you must schedule a reteaching with Ms. Shelton, and then you have one week from the original due date to turn it in.
You are getting ready to leave class, but your workbook is on your desk, your notebook is sticking out of the black crate, and you borrowed a pencil from Ms. Shelton. What are three things that need to happen before you leave?
