What is a double del?

A delegation of two people

What is opening ceremony?

Opening ceremony is the first thing you attend when you arrive at a conference. Important people are introduced, and the conference has officially began.

What is a placard?

The card which identifies you as a delegate.

What is roll call?

When the chair takes attendance by calling out your delegation, when you will be asked to submit your position paper.

Closing ceremony is where all the awards are presented and last recognitions are given.

Informal meetings where delegates form groups and talk about ideas.

What is a position paper?

An essay explaining the perspective of your delegation. A position paper has your delegations background and stance on the issue , along with other information.

What is a mod?

Where delegates can voluntarily speak about the issues and give speeches

What is decorum?

A chair says decorum when asking delegates to quiet down and show respect .

What is crisis?

  • Single delegate committee
  • A VERY fast paced committee where you will get crisis updates, or new pieces of information, and will need to adapt to that
  • Most fun topics (e.g. The Grammys)
  • You need to write private and public directives

What is a preamblutory clause?

The clauses in a resolution paper that state the problem and current statuses

What is a bloc?

A group of delegations that work together during the conference. Blocs work together for unmods and resolution papers.

What is a motion?

When a delegate formally asks the chair(s) for permission to do something or send a request for an action in a committee

What is spec?

  • Single delegation committee
  • Focuses on either serious or unserious topics
  • Position paper is required
  • May have Spec Updates, where a new update or crucial piece of information comes through, and delegates will need to adapt to it.

What is an operative clause?

Where delegates list out the multiple ways they are going to solve an issue

What is speaker's list?

The chairs randomly select a few voluntary delegations to speak.
