Students are expected to actively listen during listening activities. This means students should not be talking or engaging in any other activities.

False- Rewards and consequences are given at Ms. Farr's discretion and will be decided by Ms. Farr based on the behavior being rewarded or punished.

To leave the classroom at any time, I must get permission, sign out, and take the correct pass. When I return to the classroom, I must put the pass back in its place, sign in, and quietly return to my assigned seat.

Students are expected to use their voices and instruments properly, safely, and appropriately.
How can you earn a reward while in music?
By going above and beyond expectations.

Laptops will be used for select lessons, but will otherwise remain in the docking bay upon entering the classroom.
What happens if you are absent on a day you have music?
If a student is absent, they will receive a 0 for their Classroom Learning Activities grade for that class period as the teacher will have no evidence of learning. Any other assignments completed will be given to the student to complete and return in order to receive credit.

True- Students will have assigned seats that they are expected to sit in while in the classroom, unless otherwise directed. If a student refuses to sit in their assigned seat, a consequence will be given. Ms. Farr reserves all rights to change assigned seats, if necessary.
What is the expectation during movement activities?
During movement activities, it is expected that the students will be participating and performing the expected movements. It is also expected that students will move their bodies safely and demonstrate an awareness of those around them.

What is the expectation when leaving the classroom at the end of music?
Upon being directed, the students are expected to quietly walk to the docking bay and gather their belongings, walk to the designated area for lining up, and wait quietly to be dismissed by the teacher or picked up by their homeroom teacher. The students are expected to remain quiet while exiting the classroom.
What is the expectation while completing independent and group assignments?
During these activities, the expectation is for students to be focused on the assignment. For independent work, students will work quietly on their own. For group work, the expectation is all students in the group are focused and contributing to the assignment.
Scenario: A student in Ms. Farr's music class is continuing to hit surrounding students with a boomwhacker after being asked to stopped. Ms. Farr give the student a consequence (loss of privileges to play an instrument) because the behavior has continued. Will this student have the opportunity to try to play the instrument again during future music classes?
Yes- Just because a student receives a consequence during a class period, they do not lose privileges forever. The only way to lose privileges for an extended period of time is if the behavior occurs every music class.
Scenario: A student in Ms. Farr's music class decided it would be funny to throw an instrument in the air and catch it. The student missed, and the instruments is now broken. Meanwhile, another student got frustrated and broke the pencil they borrowed from Ms. Farr. Are either of these students using these classroom resources correctly?

What does a lockdown look and sound like in the music room?
During a lockdown, the students will quickly and quietly move to the counters in the classroom and remain on the floor, out of sight, and silent until released from the lockdown.
