This rule reminds us to keep our space clean and all material safe, not broken or damaged
What is "Care for the Room and Instruments"
Point to...the fire exit

Oh no! I need to go to the bathroom--what do I do???
1. Raise your hand
2. If Ms. Gilbert says "yes," grab the appropriate pass hanging on the filing cabinet
3. Do your business--respecting the shared spaces of classroom, hallways, and E building bathroom(s)
This rule is a reminder to always speak nicely and to not bully anyone
What is "Use Kind Words"
Point to..."the loading zone"
The pink and black tape that guides us when lining up to enter/exit music
Oh no! I spilled something on the floor--what do I do??
1. Grab some paper towels in the pink tub beside the sink
2. Wipe up the spill and throw the paper towels in the trash can beside the classroom door
This rule reminds you that in order to get an "S" grade, you have to participate and follow directions in the weekly lesson
What is "Involve Yourself"
Point to...the clock
Hanging on wall in the back corner, opposite of the fire exit
Oh no! I didn't bring my water bottle and I need water really badly--what do I do???
1. Raise your hand
2. If Ms. Gilbert says "yes," still take the appropriate pass
3. Do your business--respecting the shared spaces of classroom, hallways, and E building water fountains(s)
When you think of this rule, think of: staying in your bubble, listening when it is not your turn, and following instructions the first time given
What is "Show Respect"
Point to...the class tissues and pencil sharpener
On top of the filing cabinet by the front door, behind the passes
Oh no! There's a fire drill while we are having music class--what do I do????
1. Leave your instrument safely in your area
2. Carefully and quickly line up on the loading zone, facing the fire exit door
3. Walk in a line out to the car parking lot and wait quietly until the "all-clear" bell is heard
4. Follow in a quiet line back inside to the music room
You can follow this rule by: following school rules, entering and exiting quietly, thinking before you speak and/or act, and choosing to do the right thing
What is "Make Good Choices"
Point to... where Ms. Gilbert writes today's date and "I can" statements for the lesson(s)
On the whiteboard in the middle of the wall shared by 5th-grade Williams' class
Oh no! We are in music and there was an announcement that said "Students and Staff we are in a Code RED Lockdown"--what do I do?????
Code RED means that Ms. Gilbert will double check the door is locked and turn off all the lights.
1. Leave any and all materials where you are
2. Move to sit up against the white board wall, staying out of Ms. Gilbert's desk and other instruments
3. Remain quiet until the lockdown is over, when we hear "Students and Staff the Code Red Lockdown has ended"
4. Quietly and safely return back to your seat
