What is a myth? Actions are different from words. Those who do say they can stop, and do it for a period of time then go back are not really stopping. Stopping something means putting something to a complete end and not going back to it.

What is a myth? The moderate consumption of alcohol does not destroy brain cells. But constant abuse of alcohol does kill brain cells.

Marijuana is not harmful because it is a natural substance that comes from the earth.
What is a myth? Smoking marijuana is harmful to the body and just because it comes from the earth doesn't mean its healthy. After all poison ivy comes from the earth that isn't beneficial to us. Heavy pot smokers are at risk for some of the same health effects as cigarette smokers, like bronchitis and other respiratory illnesses.

Smoking hookahs are better than smoking cigarettes
What is a myth? Hookah smoke is just as dangerous as cigarette smoke. Hookahs generate smoke in different ways: cigarette smoke is generated by burning tobacco, while hookah smoke is produced by heating tobacco in a bowl using charcoal. The end product is the same—smoke, containing carcinogens.

What is a fact? When misused or taken without a doctor’s prescription, these drugs can be just as harmful as illegal street drugs. Taking these medications together with alcohol or other drugs—as many college students do to amplify or “cancel out” their effects—can have grave and possibly deadly consequences.

What is a myth? The 2010 Surgeon Generals Report shows how breathing tobacco smoke can cause immediate harm. Tobacco smoke can trigger sudden heart attacks and death, even in non smokers. Each cigarette you smoke hurts your lungs your blood vessel and cells throughout your body. Smoking a few cigarettes a week can cause a heart attack.

What is a fact? Alcohol increases the level of stress that is placed on the body. Adrenaline levels increase in the body as we drink. We may feel more relaxed when we drink alcohol, but the body actually comes under additional stress.

Approximately 750,000 people were arrested for marijuana law violations in 2012 according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s annual Uniform Crime Report – comprising about half (48 percent) of all drug arrests in the United States; that’s one marijuana arrest every 42 seconds. A decade ago, marijuana arrests comprised just 44 percent of all drug arrests. Approximately 42 percent of all drug arrests nationwide are for marijuana possession. Of total arrests for marijuana law violations, more than 87 percent were for simple possession, not sale or manufacture.

Anyone who passes out from drinking too much should be put to bed and allowed to "sleep it off".
What is a myth? If a friend has had too much to drink and passes out, the worst thing you can do is drag them into a bedroom away from everyone else and close the door. Alcohol slows down the heart rate and breathing and lowers the blood pressure. The amount of alcohol it takes to make you pass out is dangerously close to the amount it takes to kill you. If a friend passes out, monitor their breathing and heart rate closely. They can even choke on their own vomit if they do so.

What is a myth? Research shows that kids who use marijuana weekly are nearly four times more likely than non-users to engage in violent behavior. One study found that young people who had used marijuana in the past year were more likely than non-users to report aggressive behavior.

What is a myth? Methamphetamine affects your brain long term and short term. In the short term, meth causes mind and mood changes such as anxiety, euphoria, and depression. Long-term effects can include chronic fatigue, paranoid or delusional thinking, and permanent psychological damage.
