A narrative hook
A literary technique in the opening of a story that "hooks" the reader's attention so that they will keep on reading.
If this story is to be something resembling my book of deeds, we must begin at the beginning. At the heart of who I truly am. To do this, you must remember that before I was anything else, I was one of the Edema Ruh.
First person narrative

Exposition, Rising action, Climax, Falling action, and Resolution
The introduction to background information, events, settings and characters. This is usually at the start of a novel.

Lena’s heart raced as she stepped onto the porch, the door creaking open with a sound that echoed like a warning. Inside, shadows stretched unnaturally, and a faint whisper brushed her ear. She turned, but no one was there. The air grew colder, and suddenly, the ground beneath her feet cracked open, revealing the darkness she had been running from all these years. The moment she stepped forward, she knew there was no going back.
Climax

Exposition

The main events of a play, novel or film.
"The moment I stepped into the old library, the air shifted—like the shelves were holding their breath. As I reached for a dusty book, the pages whispered my name, even though I hadn't spoken it aloud in years."
Supernatural elements

Third person narrative
