Events in the story that become complicated as conflict is revealed.
What is Rising Action?

A genre of horror fiction that is intended to convey fear, doom, and dread.
What is Gothic literature?
Struggles with one's own choices, limitations, behaviors, thoughts, feelings, etc.
What is Character Vs. Self?
A coming-of-age story about a young girl who is forced to confront the harsh realities of her community and her own immature actions
What is "Marigolds"?
The major turning point in the story; usually the most intense or exciting part (the struggle/problem)
What is Climax?
Past-tense, first person narration in which the narrator looks back on past events.
