This is how nationalism eventually toppled the Austria, Russian, and Ottoman Empires.
Austria- In control of Slovenes, Hungarians, Germans, Czechs, Slovaks, Croats, Poles, Serbs, and Italians, nationalist disputes weakened the empire and it was eventually broken into several separate nation-states.
Russian- Instituted a policy of Russification, forcing Russian culture on all ethnic groups in the empire, which just fueled nationalist feelings among those Russia controlled such as Ukrainians, Poles, Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians, Finns, Jews, Romanians, Georgians, Armenians, and Turks
Ottoman- Anti-nationalist demonstrations against Armenians spread the nationalistic feelings in other controlled groups such as the Greeks, Slavs, Arabs, Bulgarians, and Armenians
