What is the study of life?
Biology
The variable being tested and measured in a scientific experiment
Dependent Variable
Recorded observations and measurements
Data
This Universe is full of this, in fact everything is made from it!
Matter
What is Mrs. Farrar's favorite color
teal
A prejudice in favor of or against one thing,
person, or group compared with another,
usually in a way considered to be unfair.
Bias
Scientist keep this part of the experiment the same.
Control Variables
To examine methodically and in detail the
constitution or structure of (something,
especially information), typically for purposes of
explanation and interpretation.
Analyze
The amount of space an object takes up.
Volume
Who is Mrs. Farrar's favorite class?
You are!
a judgment or decision reached by reasoning.
Conclusion
The factor being changed or tested in an experiment
Independent Variable
A conclusion reached on the basis of evidence
and reasoning.
Inference
What are the main physical properties of matter?
Mass, Weight, Volume & Density
Where is 20% of the Earth's oxygen is produced?
Amazon rainforest
A statement that can be tested scientifically
through experiments and/or other scientific
investigations.
Hypothesis
Making multiple sets of measurements or
observations in a scientific investigation.
Repetition
A statement about something you have noticed
Observation
What is the formula for density?
Mass/volume
True or False
A flea can accelerate faster than the Space Shuttle
True
A jumping flea reaches dizzying heights of about eight centimetres (three inches) in a millisecond. Acceleration is the change in speed of an object over time, often measured in ‘g’s, with one g equal to the acceleration caused by gravity on Earth (9.8 metres/32.2 feet per square second). Fleas experience 100 g, while the Space Shuttle peaked at around 5 g. The flea’s secret is a stretchy rubber-like protein which allows it to store and release energy like a spring.
The information received by means of the
senses, particularly by observation and
documentation of patterns and behavior
through experimentation.
Empirical Evidence
The reproduction of a scientific investigation by
another person to ensure accuracy.
Replication
These units are used by scientists around the world.
Metric
A scientific principle based on many
observations of naturally occurring events that
demonstrate it to be without exception under
certain stated conditions.
Scientific Law
This fluid from the human body can charge a cell phone for 3 hours.
Urine
Do not pee on your phone, this will not work
