What is this posturing called?

Decorticate Posture

Ascending pathways carry _______ information up.

Descending pathways carry ______ information down.

Ascending pathways carry sensory information up.

Descending pathways carry motor information down.

What is this Carpal Tunnel assessment?

Tinel Sign (Tinel Test)

100

True or False?

The acetabulum is shallow and encompasses only a little bit of the head of the femur.

False.

The acetabulum is deep and encompasses nearly all of the head of the femur. This decreases the probability of dislocation.

True or False

A Tinsel's Test can be done on the elbow to help assess for cubital tunnel syndrome.

True

200

What is this posturing called?

Decerebrate posture

____________ originate in the cerebral cortex and travel down through a descending white matter tract of the spinal cord.

___________ originate in the spinal cord but extend into the peripheral nervous system. They exit the spinal cord and travel within a peripheral spinal nerve to connect with a muscle.

Upper Motor Neurons originate in the cerebral cortex and travel down through a descending white matter tract of the spinal cord.

Lower Motor Neurons originate in the spinal cord but extend into the peripheral nervous system. They exit the spinal cord and travel within a peripheral spinal nerve to connect with a muscle.

What is this Carpal Tunnel assessment?

Phalen's Test

200

What is the primary purpose of the 36 muscles that attach to the sacrum & hip bone?

Stability

200

This nerve innervates all of the extensor muscles of the forearm.

Radial Nerve

300

What is the area in red?

Central Nervous System

300

Which posturing is generally less severe?

Decorticate or Decerebrate?

Decorticate Posturing: Some brain function remains above the brainstem. The prognosis for individuals with decorticate posturing depends on the severity of the underlying brain injury. Some individuals may recover fully, while others may experience permanent disability. Some of the conditions that cause decorticate posturing are treatable or reversible, especially conditions like hypoglycemia.

Decerebrate Posturing indicates severe damage to the brainstem; poor prognosis.

Which nerve is compressed in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Median Nerve

300

What 3 factors help determine the stability of the hip?

Bony anatomy, acetabular labrum, and the ligaments of the hip

300

Coracobrachialis, biceps brachii and the brachialis are innervated by which UE nerve?

Musculocutaneous Nerve

400

What is the area in blue?

Peripheral Nervous System

400

Your patient is reporting numbness and shooting pain down their forearm, and most of the ring finger and pinky finger. You suspect which nerve is impacted, and what could the possible diagnosis be?

Ulnar Nerve

Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

400

What is the movement and sensation for a patient with a Grade A SCI?

Grade A is a complete injury, meaning no movement or sensation below the injury site.

400

What is considered an extremely common ankle fracture? What bone(s) does it involve?

Lateral Malleolus Fracture

Fibula-only Fracture

400

This nerve innervates the pronator muscles (pronator quadratus & pronator teres) of the forearm.

Median Nerve

500

Which nerve may be affected in the patient's LUE?

Radial Nerve

The patient presents with wrist drop.

500

You've been resting your wrist on your laptop for a few hours while studying. You note your hand is a bit tingly and numb. Which nerve are you likely to have compressed?

Median Nerve

500

True or False?

A person with a Grade B spinal cord injury may have some sensation below the level of injury.

True

Grade B is an incomplete injury where there is some sensory function preserved below the injury level.

500

True or False

It is within the OT scope of practice to guide/educate patients of the maintenance of intentional control of bowel & bladder movements, such as a 2-hour toileting program. It is also within the OT scope of practice to guide/educate patients on continence needs, such as colostomy & catheter management.

True

Per the OTPF 4

This nerve innervates the vast majority of the intrinsic hand muscles.

Ulnar Nerve
