Your data remains under your control - admins set who can access it, ChatGPT only sees what users already can, OpenAI doesn’t train on your data by default, and we provide enterprise-grade encryption, SSO/SCIM, IP allowlisting and compliance logs.
What does EKM stand for? What is it?
Enterprise Key Management
EKM gives organizations the option to encrypt your data in ChatGPT Enterprise or API using keys managed by your external Key Management System (KMS).
Think of EKM as a kill switch for data, it reassures customers that they have control over their data and can revoke access if needed.
It lets a customer use encryption master keys they control (in their cloud KMS — AWS/GCP/Azure) to encrypt and decrypt all ChatGPT Enterprise customer content (conversations, files, memories, etc.), so the customer fully controls the cryptographic keys protecting their data

Atlas brings ChatGPT into your browsing experience so you can understand what’s on the page, automate routine tasks, and take action — all without switching tabs.
With ChatGPT built into your browser, you can research, summarize, and act faster — all in context. Atlas helps you work directly where your information lives: ChatGPT can summarize, explain, and act in context without copying and pasting.
How does Atlas handle data?
No training on customer data. Some browsing or Agent data may not yet fall under Enterprise retention and deletion requirements. Users can manually delete browsing data.
How is Company Knowledge different from Connectors?
Connectors: the integrations (Google Drive, Slack, Outlook, CRM, etc) that pull live data.
Company Knowledge: the product layer that can include those connector sources plus uploaded/static docs and an improved retrieval model/UX so the assistant returns more relevant, context-aware answers. It’s effectively the next-gen experience that sits on top of connectors.

It can provide more balanced, comprehensive responses. What is launching for admins?
Admins will be able to integrate Azure, GCP, or AWS KMS to manage access, rotate or revoke keys, and monitor key usage through their own systems. All customer content is covered including files, conversations, memory, and more.

Atlas extends ChatGPT beyond chat; becoming an AI workspace for knowledge, automation, and collaboration.
Is Atlas covered by Enterprise SOC2/ISO certifications?
Not yet. Compliance commitments will apply once Browser reaches Enterprise GA.

Currently, user have to select “Company knowledge” in every new conversation to use the new experience and model.
To get started, tap “company knowledge” under the message composer.
When using it for the first time, you’ll need to sign in to your work apps. After that, whenever you enable it, ChatGPT will look across all your connected apps to bring relevant context into its answers.
When or why might a customer need EKM?
Regulatory & compliance requirements. Highly regulated organizations (utilities, government, healthcare, etc.) often must keep the master encryption keys under their control to meet legal/regulatory standards. Customers frequently ask for BYOK so they can satisfy those mandates.
