What is Federal Work Study?
When entering time in Workday it is important that these are indicated correctly. (Aka 'ante meridiem' and 'post meridiem').
What is am and pm?
This is the maximum number of hours per day that can be worked in total for all FWS positions.
What is 8 hours/day?
This is the required training for all Penn State employees (including FWS) meant to provide the necessary information to be able to identify and report suspected child abuse under PA Child Protective Services Law and Penn State Policy AD72.
What is 'Building a Safe Penn State?'
This is the youngest age that the NLR/NLC program typically supports.
What is infancy?
To qualify for FWS, a student must be enrolled in one of these two types of degree seeking programs.

It is necessary to do this after entering a correction in Workday to a previously submitted time.

What is 'Career?'
This is the day of the week when pay-periods end and ALL CSFWS - NLR/NLC students are asked to enter AND submit their times in Workday.
What is Saturday?
This term relates to the relationship between the number of adults (teachers) and the number of children (students) in an educational setting. CSFWS - NLR/NLC students may never be included in this calculation.
What is ratio?
This is the required tax status of Community Partner organizations in order for them to participate in the CSFWS Program, unless they represent a local, state, or federal government office.
What is 501(c)(3)?
Community Partners must also be designated with the IRS as non-profit corporations.
Required for securing federal student aid a student must maintain this (which includes calculations of maximum timeframe, G.P.A., and completion rate).
What is Satisfactory Academic Progress (S.A.P.)?
This is the icon on your Workday homepage that would be used to review your payslips and tax information.
What is 'Pay?'
This would be when a FWS student should receive the pay-check for times entered during a pay-period of 11/1-11/14.
What is 11/27?
(Pay-checks are typically issued two Fridays after the pay-period.)
This was the original name of the FWS program created in 1997 to support the development of reading in the country's children? (PSU was one of the first universities to implement this program.)
What is America Reads?
These types of literacy programs serve as an exception to the typical age range supported by NLR/NLC.
What are Family Literacy Programs?
The minimum pace of completion rate that must be maintained to remain eligible for federal student aid. [Pace of Completion = (Cumulative hours successfully completed รท Cumulative hours attempted) x 100]
