ISR applicants don’t go to board at all. They are signed off “selected” by our command Skipper. Once submitted to Great Lakes they are just reviewed by the screeners to ensure they met the specific requirements and then sent their congratulations email!

NROTC Midshipmen must demonstrate a certain level of physical fitness, which is assessed through the NROTC Applicant Fitness Assessment. This assessment includes timed evolutions testing strength, speed, and agility.

They can use an AFQT of an 81 or better.
What is the deadline for those interested in the PREMED option to be submitted by?
The NROTC selection board must receive their completed application package by December 31st.
What is one of the two ACT scoring requirements that an ISR applicant must meet?

What does the NROTC scholarship cover?
Tuition, Fees, book stipend, uniforms, summer training cruises and a monthly stipend that increases throughout the academic years.

Yes! Applicants can have a high school degree or equivalent certificate.
What is the minimum service requirement after graduation for a PREMED student?
5 years of active military service, however it can go as high as 12 years depending on the type of follow on medical school they attend.

An applicant can apply for both options. However, they are two separate scholarship applications and will have to complete all individual tasks for that are required for both.
Do NROTC candidates go to boot camp?
In a way yes!
NROTC candidates are required to attend something called NSI (new student indoctrination) the summer prior to arriving at their college.
NSI is a 2.5 week “boot camp” that will provide basic military instruction. NSI is also held at the same RTC in Great Lakes we all went to, and only has three summer sessions.
All NROTC applicants are required to have (2) teacher evaluations completed. The PREMED option requires one of the other teacher evaluations to be completed by what subject teacher?

Nurse option requires one to be done by a Science teacher

All 11s applicants with an 81QT or better are required to fill out an NROTC application at their IMC.

You can apply for the NROTC scholarship as long as you can show you are in the process of receiving your U.S. Citizenship. You just have to receive your citizenship prior to accepting the scholarship.
