Starting at the highest level, briefly explain each level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs.
From top to bottom >>> 1. Self-Actualization -- where people have need of purpose, personal growth & realization of their potentials. Self actualization is the desire to become what one is capable of becoming. It is a 'growth' need. Though every one is capable of self-actualization, many do not reach this stage.
2. Self-Esteem Needs -- (self respect, personal worth, autonomy) On this level, people act from their ego needs. They value the options of others, in order to believe in themselves.
3. Love and Belongingness Needs (love, friendship, comradeship) On this level, people need to feel loved. Here loving one's self has not been fully discovered.
4. Safety Needs (security; protection from harm) Here we might include living in a safe area away from threats. This level is more likely to be found in children as they have a greater need to feel safe.
5. Physiological Needs -- the basic needs for sustaining human life. These needs include food, shelter, clothing, rest, air, water, sleep and sexual satisfaction.
