Our Answer: We believe no because when that tragic event happened it put tremendous amount of emphasis on his messages which appealed even more after because of the sentimental factor.
Why did Lincoln oppose slavery despite it having no true impact on his life as a white man?
Our Answer: Lincoln believed Slavery to be an immoral act, furthermore, he saw how America was divided and believed it couldn’t truly function that way. He had personally sided against it for these reasons regardless of him being white.
How do you think minorities affected the outcome of the war and how would participating in the war benefit them?
Our Answer: They impacted the war by fighting for the sides they were enlisted to helping overall manpower for both sides. Citizenship was a big goal for immigrants.
Do you believe Walt Whitman agreed with Abraham Lincoln’s stance on slavery and the Civil War based on the bias of his poem and why?
Our Answer: Depending on the poem’s tone we believe that Walt Whitman wouldn’t have glorified or mourned Lincoln as much as he did and would’ve portrayed him negatively if he opposed Lincoln’s stance.
