What is ART (Agile Release Train)?

Teams of Agile Teams: Agile teams operate within the context of a SAFe Agile Release Train (ART), a long-lived, team of Agile teams that provides a shared vision and direction and is ultimately responsible for delivering solution outcomes.

Of course, SAFe won't matter if teams can’t execute and continuously deliver value. Therefore, SAFe places an intense focus on working systems and business outcomes. History shows us that while many enterprises start the transformation with individual Agile teams, they often become frustrated as even those teams struggle to deliver more substantial amounts of solution value, reliably and efficiently. That is the purpose of the ART, and that is why SAFe focuses implementation initially at Essential SAFe. In turn, the ability of Value Streams to deliver value depends on the ability of the ARTs and Solution Trains.

What's DoD (Definition of Done) for SAFe Velocity measure?

Team's velocity for an iteration is equal to the sum of the points for all the completed stories which completes Definition of Done (DoD).

Average velocity is the completed story points per iteration.

Why does SAFe consider Program Execution a core value?

  • Alignment, Transparency, and Built-in Quality is the boat you build for your team, but the execution is the wind that allows it to sail. Without wind, the boat doesn't go anywhere.
  • Strategy and Alignment is difficult and should be seen from that perspective.
