What to say when a student asks a question you don't know the answer to
I want to make sure to get you the most accurate answer. Let me write down your question and contact info so I can double check and get back to you or connect you with the best person on that topic.
(Note: we want to strike a balance of being kind, confident, and helpful. If you say directly "I don't know", some people may feel like they are wasting their time)

This is our ultimate goal for our office (what do we want for students that come to us)
For people to feel welcomed and leave feeling reassured or knowing their next steps
A student has walked in with a question only a program coordinator would know. What are some ways you can respond.
Teams message the program coordinator to ask if they are available to answer a drop in student question or take the student's ONID email, name, and question so you can follow up with them or connect them to the program coordinator
These are ways to call someone back on campus, off campus, and long distance
