This type of cat lives in the house, safe and free from outside dangers. Occasionally an owner may let them outside on a leash for some fresh air.

These guys enforce laws about the proper care of animals. They travel to a lot of homes and businesses (like pet stores), to make sure that animal care by-laws are being followed. Sometimes, they will rescue animals that are in danger, and go to court to testify against people that have broken the law.

These ladies are the first friendly faces you will see when entering the OHS. They are there to help answer questions and greet people who come into the shelter looking to adopt animals. They are ‘matchmakers.’ They work very hard to find our awesome OHS animals the perfect forever home that suits their unique needs.

The first place animals come when they arrive at the shelter. OHS staff check for a microchip on stray animals here.

We know it sounds strange, but we like to roll in dust to stay clean! Fill a large ceramic bowl with dust and leave it in our cage please! This should be changed two to three times a week.
What is a degu or a chinchilla?

It is a medical procedure, performed by a veterinarian. Pets that have this will live longer, healthier lives and are less likely to get cancer. They are also calmer and better behaved.
