Illinois regulations require that:

  • Children age 2 and older who attend for 6 or more hours may have no more than 60 minutes of passive screen viewing per day.
  • Any single passive screen viewing session may not exceed 30 minutes.
  • Children attending less than 6 hours must receive a proportionately smaller amount of screen time.
  • Screen time should be age-appropriate and educational.
  • Screen time is intended to support learning and should not replace active play, teacher interaction, movement, or classroom engagement.
