Why was 1LT Shea awarded the Medal of Honor?
1LT Shea was supervising the reinforcement of defensive positions when the enemy attached. He then went to the area under the most threat and led the counterattack. He killed two enemy soldiers with his trench knife. After 18 hrs of fighting and heavy losses, he gathered a group of 20 men and charged the enemy again. While wounded, he continued to move among the defenders of Pork Chop Hill. The next day, the enemy attacked again and he was last seen in close hand to hand combat with th enemy.
