Individuals; for-profit organizations; organizations whose purpose is related to political activity (as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency); agencies of provincial or federal governments; municipalities with populations over 20,000 and their agencies, universities, colleges, hospitals, schools, and their agencies; private foundations or organizations that discriminate, or seek to limit the legal rights and activities of people
Who will OTF NOT support?

In assessing an organization’s application, OTF will consider the following factors together to determine an organization’s overall financial health: •Ability to manage funds: a sound financial record of responsibly managing funds, including managing grants from other funders •Demonstrated need for funds: the current financial situation warrants a request for additional funds •History of managing OTF funds: previous grants from OTF demonstrate their capacity to manage grant funds appropriately (if applicable) •Diversified revenue stream: source of revenues is adequate and suggests financial stability •Viability: the organization is stable and the request for funds is reasonable given size and scope of organization •Sectoral need and context: consideration is given to the organization’s role and standing within the broader context When circumstances and context warrant, the final assessment of the financial health and need of an organization rests with a member of OTF’s Leadership Team.

Two or more organizations that jointly submit an application to achieve a common goal where there is mutual benefit, shared decision-making, and accountability to each other and to the communities they serve.
What is a collaborative applicant?

OTF accepts applications from collaborative applicants that include a collaborative agreement, which details the working agreements of the collaborative members. A collaboration may include both eligible and ineligible organizations, but the lead organization must be an eligible organization. The lead organization accepts responsibility for any approved grant to the collaborative applicant, signs the Grant Contract, assumes all responsibility and accountability with respect to that contract including fiscal accountability and all required reporting, and accepts OTF funding.

OTF grant recipients are required to: •Recognize their funding publicly through recognition events, press conferences, photo opportunities, social media and news releases •Give OTF and their local Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) a minimum of three weeks’ notice of a recognition event •Acknowledge the funding in media releases, media interviews, annual reports, newsletters, social media activities, videos and promotional materials, both online and in print •Use the OTF logo and name according to our guidelines and communications toolkit provided to the grantees •Display any promotional material received from OTF in a public area •Report on all recognition activities and media coverage in their Progress and Final Reports
