What are some examples of group agreements that you will set up with your OLT group?
Many possibilities to create a comfortable, confidential, safe, and respectful environment. Some include: one person talks at a time, treat others the way you want to be treated, and have fun! There are also the three mandatory agreements in your training booklet (p.6) 1. Turn off cell phones. 2. Maintain confidentiality. 3. This is an open atmosphere where everyone should feel safe to ask questions.

What are three ways we can tell students to get involved on campus?
Many options- Examples include: Attend a Campus Activities Board event, volunteer through Campus Ministries, go to OSA and check out the calendar, join one of the 40+ student organizations, or join an intramural sports team.

Get a key from the Campus Assistance Center (CAC) and use the lockers under the stairs in Predolin. There is also a fridge for commuter students there.

There is some confrontation in your OLT group. One student is being mistreated by another student in your OLT group. How would you handle this situation?
Don’t ignore the situation. Talk to the students individually away from the other students. Without being confrontational, be direct and clear that is behavior can be harmful to others and is undesirable and doesn’t connect to our Edgewood values. Be clear on how you expect this behavior to change.

Not everyone chooses to partake in partying and underage drinking. There are many fun (and legal) alternatives at Edgewood and in Madison. CAB & OSA have many fun activities during the week and on the weekends.

The Security Office located in Weber Hall. Bus passes are FREE for all Edgewood students. You could make this a trip with your whole OLT group.

You could try approaching them individually and show your honest concern and offer to help them. Take into consideration each group member's experiences and personality.

A lost ID card must be reported to the Technology Assistance Center. The replacement cost for lost ID cards is $5.00.

After going over orientation material (i.e. a schedule) in your group, there isn't a lot of communication going on within your OLT group. What could you do (or say) to get some additional participation and conversation going in your group?
Example: Use questioning to create an open atmosphere. Instead of saying "Any questions" try saying "What questions do you have?" This will lessen the anxiety of asking questions they may think are "dumb" and other students may have the same question.

Example: Ask your group if they want to meet up during orientation to go around to the rooms for their classes. Each student can bring their schedule and you can show them where to go.

What are four helpful tips to remember when facilitating your OLT group?
1) Turn up the energy: Energy & Enthusiasm will set the tone for your group! Your attitude will be contagious and will get the group excited & ready for orientation! 2) Exhibit Organization: Know your stuff! Know your resources and be organized because the students will come to you for direction and information. 3) Watch Yourself: How you present yourself and how you act can leave a strong first impression with your group. It also establishes roles within your group. Dress neatly & in appropriate attire. You are the faces & representatives of Edgewood College during orientation. 4) Take Charge: Establish a plan for the next few days together as group and establish group norms by explaining to them what events and activities they are expected to participate in.
