What are the main differences between a restorative conversation, a restorative circle, and a restorative conference? 

Conversation = typically happens prior to a Warning letter being issued, Circle = typically requested by a party outside of OSARP, would not be referred to a formal disciplinary process, Conference = OSARP determines eligibility, would be referred to a formal disciplinary process

The student is sent a Warning Letter (unless aggravating factors are present) and are then charged with noncompliance if they repeat the violation.

Harmed: Wants something good to come of this, wants a say in what happens next, wants the chance to explain their perspective

Responding: Wants the chance to explain their perspective, wants to take responsibility and make things right, the chance to avoid a disciplinary record

How is a student first notified of a disciplinary proceeding?

They receive an email from OSARP where they must login using their student username/password to view a notification letter (this includes the charges, how to schedule a meeting, and a copy of the incident report)

When must an appeal be submitted, and what criteria must the appeal meet to be reviewed?

Appeals must be submitted within 7 calendar days of receiving the outcome of the case. 

At lease one of these grounds/conditions must be met:

1. New information that significantly alters the finding of fact

2. Evidence of improper procedure

3. Excessive sanctions

What are the 4 conditions that must be met for a complaint to be resolved via informal resolution?

1. The responding party willingly accepts responsibility and shows remorse for the alleged violation.

2. The harmed party is identified.

3. Both the responding and harmed parties are actively involved in the informal resolution recommendation. 

4. Both the responding and harmed parties agree, sign, and uphold the reparative agreement.
