Procedure for evacuation
What is If evacuation is necessary, all associates shall leave the building using the nearest exit. Everyone will meet in the parking lot at a designated safe assembly area on PetSmart premises. All associates must know this designated area. Each hospital will prepare and post a map of the hospital showing escape routes and the location of all fire extinguishers and fire alarm equipment. Roll Call Associates will not leave the designated meeting area without checking with the office manager, chief of staff, or senior veterinarian on duty. This procedure will enable us to make sure all associates are accounted for. Critical Operations & Shut Down After an emergency has passed, all necessary staff shall remain to help close down the hospital. The supervisor on duty will oversee the close down. Rescue and Medical Duties Specific individuals are not designated to provide CPR or first aid because a fire station and emergency treatment is readily available by dialing 911. Any associate who has CPR training may, of course, use CPR. Report Emergencies Associates must notify their office manager, Chief of Staff, or senior veterinarian on duty at the time of any emergency. Face to face or voice communication is the best, but the PetSmart intercom may also be used.
