A Member has to stop the workout becuase of nausea, dizziness or faints. What questions should we ask and what should we provide?

"When was your last meal?" "Does this happen on a regular basis when you exercise?"

Provide them with a glucose packet first, then pedialyte, crackers and water.

Do not let them finish their workout, advise them to not drive home but ultimately they can drive home if they feel clear headed.

Ann starts her transformation challenge at 30% body fat and ends at 20% body fat, while Sherry starts at 45% body fat and ends at 35% body fat. Assuming these two are our top competitors, who would win the transformation challenge?

Ann would win. While both women decreased their body fat % by 10% the Transformation Challenge winners are determined by % change in body fat. Ann lost 33% of her original body fat, while Sherry lost about 23% of her original body fat.

Margaret (a new member) comes to you (FC) disappointed with her InBody scan results. What should you say to Margret?

Empathize, comfort and encourage her - then offer to help her set up a consultation with a coach of her choice. As a fitness consultant, discussing results or offering advice is outside of your scope of practice.

Mary is not responsive after 20-30 seconds of assessment and attempts to communicate. Mary appears, after visual and physical assessment to be having a heart attack, is not breathing and/or has no pulse.

What are our next steps?

1. Call 911 immediately.

2. Do not leave Mary alone and start CPR immediately.

3. Have another staff member get the AED, bring to the member and open the case. Start the AED process and execute shocks after the initial steps are complete.

4. Do not stop CPR/AED until paramedics arrive and take over the medical attention or member displays signs of life.

5. The workout for that hour must be cancelled immediately.

6. After Mary has left the studio, complete and incident report and send to Jake and studio manager.
