Has any human been to another planet?

No, but we've been to the moon!

100

What are the planets in our solar system?

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune

100

Who was the first person to walk on the moon?

Neil Armstrong, in 1969

100

Is the sun a star?

Yes

100

What does the Earth have that helps it have life?

Water, atmosphere, near a star like the sun for heat and light!

200

How fast do spacecraft travel to get into outer space?

11,000 miles per hour

200

What do the planets all travel around?

The sun

200

What sport has been played on the moon?

Golf

200

Why do stars shine?

Stars shine because they're made of hydrogen and helium that is constantly combining to make nuclear explosions, which make the stars very hot and very bright

200

Have we found any planets that have the right conditions for life?

Yes! Scientists call those conditions "the goldilocks zone," because those planets are close enough to a star to be warm and not frozen, but not so close that they're burning hot. The first confirmed goldilocks zone planet was found in 2014

300

Do any humans live in space?

Yes! Since 2000, different astronauts have been living on the International Space Station, which orbits the Earth

300

What is the name of our galaxy?

The Milky Way

300

Does the moon make its own light?

It doesn't actually! The moonlight we see is actually sunlight reflecting off of the moon's surface

300

Which live longer, big stars or little stars?

Little stars, because big stars use more of their fuel in their explosions faster to power how big and bright they are
300

Are all planets made of rock like earth is?

Nope! There's one planet that's made almost entirely out of diamonds even

400

Who was the first person in space and what country did the come from?

Yuri Gagarin, a Russian astronaut. (In Russia, however, astronauts are called cosmonauts!)
400

What are Saturn's rings made of

Chunks of ice

400

How does the moon affect the Earth?

It causes the tides!

400

How long does it take light from the sun to reach Earth?

8 minutes

400

What is a black hole?

Black holes are places in space where lots and lots and lots of matter is concentrated in just one tiny tiny area. Black holes weigh so much that they drag everything around them towards them, even light! That's why they're called black holes - everything around them seems dark, because all of the light is pulled towards the heavy black hole
500

How many years would it take - currently - for us to reach the nearest planet outside of our solar system?

It would take us over 73,000 years to reach Alpha Centauri, which is the nearest exoplanet, or planet outside of the solar system!

500

Is one year on Earth the same as one year on other planets?

No

500

Does every planet have moons?

Nope! Mercury and Venus don't

500

Is our sun brighter than most stars or darker than most stars?

Our sun is actually not nearly as bright as most other stars - but the other stars are so far away that we see less of their light

500
Does going to space make people grow?

It does! Without gravity pushing down, people can grow as much as an extra 2 inches
