It introduces the characters, their situation, and time or place.
What is rising action?
The inciting incident that introduces a new conflict or intensifies an existing one.
What is the Climax?
The moment of greatest emotional intensity (Outcome of plot and fate of characters). And, most importantly, the turning point.
When does falling action occur?
Right after the conflict.
What is conclusion?
The conclusion gives a new and (somewhat) stable situation

It can be either short and up front or long and spread out.
