What is the difference between a common noun and a proper noun?

Proper Noun – a noun that is always capitalized such as a person’s name, a city, state, country, brand name, titles, etc.  

Example: Johnny Appleseed, Boston, Adidas, The Conjuring

Common Noun – a noun that is lower case unless it is the first word of a sentence. 

Example: teacher, hospital, sneakers, movie
