A common noun
What is something that names a person place or thing. EXAMPLE: The girl goes into the store. THE GIRL is the common noun.
Every sentence has two parts (separate from the parts of speech). This is the naming part.
What is the subject. EXAMPLE: KIZA came to the party. KIZA is the part that names who the sentence is about.

A possessive noun
What is a noun that shows ownership. A possessive noun has an apostrophe. POSSESS=TO OWN. EXAMPLES: Kyle's friend, the dog's food, the story's title.
