What is the Submittal Log?
This is one of three classic elements of project planning listed together with safety and quality.
What is Scope, Time, or Cost?
A repeatable standard for the labor it takes to accomplish a defined task—used in estimates, planning, and changes.
What is a labor unit?
In this contract, the client pays costs incurred according to an agreed rate sheet, and some BMWC costs may not be billable.
What is a Time and Material (T&M) contract?
Once takeoff begins, this spreadsheet is used to pull together all components of the estimate.
What is the Keystone?
This log exists in an offline version and may also be used in COINS to track project orders.
What are is the PO Log?
Strategic plans, the overall schedule, and changes in scope are core to this role’s perspective.
Who is the Project Manager?
These published units include direct, support, and lost time up to standard conditions—but don’t disclose the exact mix.
What are MCAA units?
Under this contract, the client pays the amount contracted, and extra work must be handled separately (e.g., Lump Sum or T&M).
What is a Lump Sum contract?
This estimate counts the parts and pieces to reach a very specific understanding of the scope.
What is a detailed estimate?
Don’t use this for travel & entertainment, personal charges, corporate assets over $5,000, IS software/hardware, or utilities/subscription/rental payments.
What are RAMP cards?
A single IWP must map to exactly this many cost accounts.
What is one?
BMWC measures pipe welding with this dimension—not circumferential inches.
What are diameter inches (of weld)?
Cost line items not directly billable to the client on a reimbursable estimate.
What are Do Not Bills (DNBs)?
In the BMWC process, takeoff and consolidation are done in these units before labor rates are applied.
What are man-hours?
This tool is used to track procurement progress and savings or losses, and it’s recommended to align on strategy with the core project team and office purchasing before populating it.
What is the Buysheet?
Name two of the key tools used to develop the plan with the team.
What are logic diagrams/schedules, estimates & budgets, or Installation Work Packages (any two)?
BMWC relies on two mechanical labor rate books: one from the national association and one developed internally.
What are the MCAA manual and the BMWC Plan labor book?
In a T&M scenario, this party keeps cash discounts, rebates, and refunds that BMWC negotiates.
Who is the owner?
This type of estimate uses history of similar scopes built under similar conditions to project cost.
What is conceptual estimate?
These limits may require approval and Legal’s review of T&Cs revisions.
What are the Signature Authority Limits for Project Purchases?
The single most important predictor of workforce productivity is that the supervisor ends the day knowing this.
What is "what the crew will be doing the next day"?
This activity is typically included within MCA units but treated as a separate activity in BMWC Plan units.
What is testing?
These pay adjustments apply for working shifts other than day shift and are specified by the site agreement.
What are shift differentials?
Access, congestion, interferences, height, and weather fall under this performance factor category.
