Level I
Care for > 32 wk gestation and weighing > 1500 g; physiologic immaturity or moderately ill; problems expected to resolve rapidly; not anticipated to need subspecialty services on an urgent basis; care for infants after intensive care; mechanical ventilation for brief duration (<24 hr) or continuous positive airway pressure or both; stabilize born before 32 wks gestation and weighing less than 1500 g until transfer to a higher level of function
Level II: Special care nursery
Nondaily; 1x/week; therapy services extremely limited; family unable to manage care at home (vent/trach); child unlikely to regain more function; equipment dependent; not widely available; not likely to go home or regain function
Long term acute care hospital (LTACH)
Child who has never learned the skill before and are learning it for the first time
Habilitation
Represents the collection of systems (CV, pulmonary, endocrine, integumentary, nervous, and MSK) that interact to move the body or its component part

Early intervention
Ages 3-21; goal is to optimize the child's access to education; no charge for services but may bill Medicaid; 504 plan; in order to get therapy it has to be proved that the childs disability is impacting their education (EX: not being able to get to class on time)
School based
Located within an institution with capability to provide surgical repair of complex congenital or acquired conditions; maintain full range of pediatric medical subspecialists, and pediatric anesthesiologists at the site; facilitate transport and provide outreach education
Level IV: Regional NICU
Low; nondaily; 1x/week; services extremely limnited; child typically must be "bed bound"; not widely available for peds; limited community resources

Emphasizes manipulation of the environment through the use of positive reinforcement of desired behaviors and ignoring unwanted behaviors
