Client is a permanent employee and also has casual employment not held at DOFI/DOSI- Do we include this casual employment in calculation?

For us to include casual (non permanent) employment in a calculation, it must be held immediately prior to their DOFI/DOSI date.

Extension of earner status also doesn't apply to this casual employment as client has already been established as an earner by their permanent employment.

200

Name some employment scenarios which make a client non- permanent in nature?

-Fixed term contract, no guaranteed hours, seasonal, planned unpaid leave of more than seven days (such as a Christmas shutdown period), notice handed in prior to their incapacity

200

What happens if the client was previously part time but now is full time in their position?

Previously Part-time:

  • Clients who previously worked as part-time in their job are eligible for a ‘better-of’ calculation.
  • Has client worked more than 120 hours in 4 weeks prior to incapacity? Has the client worked less than 30hours in any period prior to the 4 weeks in the short term that isn't the result of unpaid leave?
  • If clients hours were part time due to unpaid leave we would not use the better of calculation as we would reduce the divisor for the unpaid leave instead.
