It is being able to compromise or have common ground when you don't agree.

It shows a person's ability to be a flexible thinker and realize that sometimes it is necessary to compromise.

It is necessary to be able to have other views besides our own.  It helps us understand what a person might be thinking or how they are feeling?

What could happen if a person doesn't take the perspective of others for given situations?
