A staff has given you a referral that states that the child has reported to them that they have been victims of sexual abuse.  What do you do? Does this get documented and how?

Everyone in the building is a mandated reported and since the child told the teacher first, the teacher needs to file a CPS report.  If the teacher does not know how to do so, you can assist them with the process.


*You should not do any further investigation, nor contact the student or family.

*Should a social worker come, you can introduce yourself and let them know that you can be of assistance, should the family need any services.

* You enter the inbound referral is smartsheet, mastercase list, you will enter a contact for the student and select (staff) and enter in your notes that teacher will make CPS report etc...

*If you have been in contact with CPS worker you will also document this under the student's name and select under who was contacted (Community member)
