What is Pharmacology?
An odorless, tasteless, colorless gas that is found in the ambient atmosphere at a concentration of approximately 21%.
What is Oxygen?
When a drug is taken by mouth (swallowed), also known as PO.
What is oral route?
A compressed powder that is shaped into a small disk or elongated shape.
What is compressed powder or tablet?
This medication can not be administered to patients taking erectile dysfunction medication. (Contraindicated)
What is Nitroglycerin?
A drug or other substance that is used as a remedy for illness.
What is Medication?
A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is used for treating pain, fever, and inflammation.
What is Ibuprofen?
When a medication is sprayed into one or both nostrils used a specialized delivery device called a mucosal atomizer device (MAD).
What is intranasal route?
A device that uses compressed gas, typically oxygen, that is forced into a chamber containing medication.
What is small-volume nebulizer?
This drug is indicated for patients experiencing anaphylaxis.
What is Epinephrine?
The undesired effects of a medication.
What are side effects?
A vasodilator that is used to treat patients with diseases of the heart that involve partial blockages or spasms of coronary arteries.
What is Nitroglycerin?
When a drug is injected into a muscle mass.
What is intramuscular injection (IM)?
A viscous (thick, sticky) substance that the patient swallows.
What is gel?
Providing this drug for a patient to smell when nauseous would be an indication.
What is isopropyl alcohol?
Situations in which a medication should not be used.
What are contraindications?
A competitive opioid antagonist that competes for the same receptor binding sites as the opioid drug.
What is Naloxone Hydrochloride (Narcan)?
When a medication is prepared as a gas and is inhaled by the patient.
What is inhalation route?
A crystalline solid that is mixed with liquid to form a suspension.
What is fine powder for inhalation?
An indication for this drug would be a patient experiencing chest discomfort or pain caused by an oxygen indeficiency in the heart. (not used for it's analgesic effects)
What is Aspirin?
A person who takes 5 or more medications daily.
What is polypharmacy?
A parasympathetic drug that blocks the parasympathetic nervous system and reverses the effects of cholinergic poisons and drugs.
What is Atropine?
When a medication is placed under the patients tongue. (not swallowed)
What is sublingual route?
Drug particles that are mixed in a suitable liquid.
What is suspension?
May be contraindicated in someone with severe liver failure.
What is Acetaminophen?
