A helium balloon measures 22 grams, the balloon is placed in a container of liquid nitrogen (very cold), when the balloon is removed from the container it is half its original size but still has a mass of 22 grams, explain why.
What is conservation of mass. The very cold temperature of the liquid nitrogen caused the gas particles to slow down and move closer together, therefore decreasing the size of the balloon, but the temperature did not change the amount of gas still present in the balloon.
