“I’m still paying off my student loans.”
That’s understandable. I am going to be paying off loans for a while after I graduate as well. However, without the support of alumni, a year at Lafayette would cost over $73,000. This is exactly why your support is so important. When you were a student, it was alumni contributions that helped keep the cost of tuition down as well. You now have the opportunity to give a student today the same opportunities that you had at Lafayette as a student.

“I understand your concern and, as a current student, I am also curious to see how President-Elect Byerly impacts Lafayette and the Lafayette community. However, I think this is very exciting time for the College. A number of alumni like you are stepping up to make a gift in honor of the future of the College. Can I put you down for a gift of $XX in celebration of the future of Lafayette?”

“Lafayette has become too liberal.”
I understand. One thing to keep in mind is that Lafayette prides itself on diversity and respect for others, even when we may not agree or support specific viewpoints. As a student, I have found the diversity at Lafayette to be a great strength. And, any gift you make to Lafayette can go to specific areas of the College, so you can be certain your support is helping out only those areas you care about.
